A tyro indicted of murdering a happy man in Trafalgar Square pronounced he punched the plant since he saw him set upon a lady and feared she competence get hurt.
Joel Alexander, 19, told an Old Bailey jury he felt he had to action after he saw Ruby Thomas in a fight with 62-year-old Ian Baynham.
He said: What I was noticing was a grown man attack a girl. I thought Ruby could finish up removing harm since he was utterly almost bigger than her.
Mr Baynham died eighteen days after being knocked to the belligerent where he was allegedly kicked by Thomas and a second girl, Rachel Burke, in Sep last year.
Thomas, 18, of Lichfield, Staffs, Alexander, of Thornton Heath, south London, and Burke, 18, of Three Oaks, East Sussex, all repudiate manslaughter.
Alexander, a sports scholarship tyro at the University of East London, currently told the justice how he had been out with his partner Louisa Figini and others celebrating her birthday and drinking.
He pronounced prior to the rumpus with Mr Baynham there had been an additional row in Trafalgar Square involving lairy, mouthy Thomas and a organisation of youths that he had attempted to defuse by saying: They are only drunk, stupid girls.

Alexander replied: I thought Ruby could finish up removing harm since he was utterly almost bigger than her.
